Every once in a while you make a discovery that feels extra special.
Rileys is that kind of place.
Nestled snugly on the beach in the shelter of King Edwards Bay below the ruins of Tynemouth priory, this charming little shack serves up the most delicious, locally caught, fish and seafood, cooked simply over hot charcoal.
Due to the method It can take a little while for the food to cook but it's sooo worth the wait.
The flavours are incredible and there are worse ways to pass the time of day than sinking into one of the scattered deckchairs drinking prossecco in the sunshine, taking in the fresh air and gazing out at the beautiful sea views!
Rightfully so, Riley’s gets super busy and there is often a queue to be found snaking it's way back from the smoking kitchen.
My advise would be to get there early because when it's gone, it's gone!
Long Sands sweeping golden beach stretches out around the next bend providing a welcome opportunity to walk off lunch.
